Arriving, Connecting, and Creating Together

First day of the ReWear: Revive Fashion, Reduce Waste project. Our participants were welcomed by the legal representative of Youth Ambassadors of Milan. Our legal representative provided information about the project topic, the surroundings, and asked participants if they had any specific needs. After that, our facilitator gave detailed information about the schedule, the venue, and shared all the necessary guidelines.

To create a safe and respectful environment, each participant suggested a rule to add, and together we established our common ground. Afterward, we moved on to the icebreaker activity, where participants asked each other questions in a circle to get to know one another better. The facilitator then explained how participants could actively contribute to the activities. Through this, we aimed to give everyone the opportunity to be not only a receiver but also a co-creator of the project.

After lunch, we created a project flag representing each participating nation. Then, we had an outdoor orientation session, allowing participants to enjoy some fresh air and feel more energized. During this session, participants had the opportunity to explore the surroundings they located the nearest pharmacy and supermarkets in case they needed anything. They also interacted with local people, which made them feel safer and more at home.

Our final activity of the day was an introduction to the project topic. Participants were divided into four groups to explore and present on the following themes:

The rise of fast fashion

Environmental effects of fashion

Social and ethical concerns of fast fashion

Consumer culture and its psychological effects

Sustainable solutions

We ended the day with a shared dinner.
