After breakfast, we had an energizer outside. Then, participants engaged in a fun, creative craft activity, provided with old clothes and fabrics to repurpose into something new. The purpose of this activity was to demonstrate that items we often plan to discard can be transformed into something beautiful and valuable. Participants planned, designed, and sewed their creations.
Following this, we held a fashion show where participants showcased their final products. One participant from each team was selected as a model to wear the clothing their team created and participate in the catwalk. A participant from the Lithuanian team, with a background in fashion, assisted the models in walking confidently, much like professional models.
Next, we conducted a research-based activity in which participants were divided into five teams, each focusing on a different theme:
1. Fashion Revolution
2. Fair Trade Fashion
3. Slow Fashion
4. Clean Clothes
5. Sustainable Apparel Coalition.
Each team was tasked with answering the following questions:
- When, where, and why did this movement start?
- What are the main goals or messages of this movement?
- What problems in the fashion industry does it aim to address?
- What changes or results has this movement achieved so far? (Has it influenced brands, laws, or consumer behavior?)
- Why is this movement important for the future of fashion?
- How can we, as individuals or young people, support or participate in it?
All teams conducted their research and presented their findings. Some opted for live presentations, while others created Canva slides. A Q&A session followed the presentations.
We ended the day with a shared dinner. After dinner, the facilitator met with the team leaders to discuss the feedback from the participants and took some actions for the upcoming days.
